Used Toys Needed for Community Art Project

Used Toy Drive for Wings of Hope Community Art Project

Join the Jewish Federation of Omaha in building a powerful project created in memory of the Kutz family and the victims of October 7th. From September 4th through October 2nd, we will be collecting used toys for the Wings of Hope community art project . Items collected will be permanently collaged onto a set of sculptural wings. Our finished sculpture will serve as a lasting memorial that brings a message of hope.

What we are looking for: 
Used toys that are colorful, small, and made of hard plastic. Toys can be broken!
– figures & animals
– cars & trucks
– mini toys
– building blocks & bricks
– puzzle pieces
– parts of toys
–  Please do NOT donate stuffed toys, plush toys, or anything soft / squishy. These items cannot and will not be used in the project.

Donations Accepted: September 4 – October 2

Collection Sites: Toys can be dropped off at the Jewish Federation of Omaha front entrance, Pennie Z. Davis Early Learning Center, Temple Israel, Beth Israel, Beth El, and Friedel Jewish Academy.

About the Project:  The original ‘Wings of Hope’ was created in July 2023 by Livnat Kutz Z”L and members of Kibbutz Kfar Aza, located in southern Israel. The exhibit is a piece of artwork made from old plastic toys collected by the community. These toys were assembled into wings on the wall of a shelter in Kfar Aza, symbolizing the values of sustainability, creativity, and a sense of optimistic community belonging—values that Livnat Z”L and her special family embodied. Tragically, they were brutally murdered in their home by Hamas during the October 7th attack. Their vision is that ‘Wings of Hope’ will be replicated throughout Israel and around the world, commemorating Livnat’s deep dedication to community and resilience, ensuring her memory lives on.
