Student to Student: Omaha

Student to Student is a proven, classroom-based experiential program that brings Jewish and non-Jewish high school students together to learn about Judaism through personal storytelling. Jewish high school Student Presenters visit local high schools with few, if any, Jewish students to share their Jewish practices and experiences. This program is offered in select locations throughout the country. Student to Student became a program under the Jewish Federations of North America in 2025, but began in St. Louis, MO over 25 years ago.

Going Beyond the Classroom

The impact of a Student to Student (STS) presentation goes well beyond the classroom and the school day. After engaging with STS Teen Ambassadors, high school students better understand Jews and Judaism, have increased awareness of religious and cultural differences and commonalities, and gain a greater desire to interrupt antisemitic comments and stereotypes when they hear them inside and outside a school setting.

83% of teachers strongly agree that Student to Student presentations
break down stereotypes and effectively engage their students.

94% of teachers report that students continue to discuss what they learned from Student to Student presentations in their classrooms afterward.

84% of students report that they have shared what they learned or have taken another step to learn more about Judaism. 27% say that they have interrupted an antisemitic comment.

78% of teachers believe that Student to Student presentations helped to
counter antisemitism in their schools.

STS Highlight: Cadee

Cadee is a veteran STS Ambassador for 2025-2026! She has been a great leader in the Omaha program and is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming school year. We sat down with Cadee to ask her a few questions about her involvement in STS.

Q: Why did you sign up for Student to Student?

A: I signed up for Student to Student because even though being Jewish is really important to me I know that other people that don’t know a lot about being Jewish, I would always have to answer questions from friends or peers about it even to how to pronounce Judaism and when I heard about Student to student I knew that this is something that I wanted to do.

Q: What is your favorite part of the presentation?

A: My favorite part of the presentation was when we were talking about kosher foods and when I asked if anyone had eaten kosher food before, maybe one person would raise their hand. Then I asked if anyone had eaten Oreos and most of the hands went up. This was really cool to see because I saw them realize it. Even if they don’t remember all the info we throw at them they still took with them that it is more integrated into society than they thought.

Q: In your opinion, what’s the most important part of the presentation?

A: When we talk about Antisemitism. When we told them about the things that have happened in our community and the town that they even live in, I saw the shock and realization on their face I knew that we made an impact and a difference.

Q: How does being a part of STS help you reach your college and career goals?

A: STS is helping my goals because I learn how others react and how much others know. Right now I am applying for colleges in the education programs- teaching kids about how to think of others and to learn new things. This is an experience that I am proud to be in and hope that it will grow in the future to change people’s perspectives just one class at a time.
