The Jewish Omaha Youth Foundation is raising money to go towards a needy non-profit organization of their choice.
The group has decided that their money will be going to a non-profit organization that assists children, teens or young adults in learning to make good choices, providing opportunities to build strong self-image, and to better their day to day lives.
Our primary goal is to teach our young people during their high school years about philanthropy and non-profit organizations. It is critical to help teens develop an interest in issues and causes that are important to them individually, as well as important to our Jewish community. Learning the satisfaction of giving and how this act creates strong community will mean a life time of caring.
As Jews we have the obligation to perform charity and philanthropic acts, tzedakah. Performing these acts are some of the most important parts of living a strong Jewish life. If we have the opportunity to empower our young people and teach them to give of their time and their money we are helping to strengthen the Omaha Jewish community.
