Brandon Raffel, son of Andy Raffel, Amy Tipp and Ron Hackbart will celebrate his Bar Mitzvah on Saturday, Dec. 21 at Beth El Synagogue.
Brandon is a seventh-grade Superior Honor Roll student at Elkhorn Middle School and is a participant in the Duke University Talent Identification Program.
He plays trumpet in the Select Jazz Band and French horn in the Concert band. Brandon has also acted in many school, community, and Herzl Camp plays. Pets, especially reptiles, are Brandon’s love. He is the owner and caretaker of a panther chameleon, several geckos, a turtle, hermit crabs, freshwater fish and a mixed reef of marine fish and coral.
For his mitzvah project, Brandon chose to support Mazon. He has dedicated his time volunteering at food pantries, cooking, and helping to organize ongoing donations.
He has a sister, Julia, a brother, Michael and three step-brothers, Taylor, Riley, and Connar Hackbart.
Grandparents are Dr. Steve and Marilyn Tipp, Fran Raffel, and the late Jerrold Raffel.
