The
ADL and the CRC (the Community
Relations Committee of the Jewish Federation of Omaha [JFO] have
mutually agreed to separate, allowing both organizations (ADL and JFO)
to focus on our agencies’ core missions and strengths. Both the ADL and
the JFO are dedicated to establishing a strong, cooperative and mutually
beneficial relationship going forward.
We in Omaha remained the last combined ADL-CRC in the country for a long
and successful time –but it was a model that was retired elsewhere in
the country by the ADL many years ago, allowing the ADL and Jewish
Federations around the country to focus resources and expertise more
effectively and efficiently.
Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of Omaha
represents the voice the Jewish Federation of Omaha. Guided by Jewish
values, JCRCs
advocate, educate, collaborate, and mobilize Jewish communities and
community partners to act on issues important to the JCRCs’ respective
local Jewish communities.
Some of the work the JCRC is focusing on includes:
- Responding to incidents of hate and antisemitism across our community
- Work with our campus Security Manager and local law enforcement
- Providing educational resources to administrators, teachers and students
- Reporting incidents to the ADL database
- Providing support to synagogues and Jewish agencies and organizations
- Building community relationships and coalitions to pro-actively
address and respond to issues of paramount importance to our Jewish
community and community at large
- Reaching out to civil rights organizations and marginalized communities to work together to achieve similar goals
- Educating and providing programs and valuable resources to institutions, and individuals seeking help and support
- Providing allyship and anti-bias curriculum and training
- Advocating for the Jewish people, Israel, and marginalized communities
- Advocating and working with elected officials and community partners on issues and legislation of importance to our community
