Shalom is a wonderful Hebrew word which means hello, goodbye, AND peace. With all three of these definitions it is my pleasure to be among the first people to welcome you and explain a bit more about the “Exploring Judaism” class we offer through the Jewish Federation of Omaha. This class is designed for anyone exploring Judaism for the first time, for Jews interested in refreshing their knowledge of Judaism, those in the process of conversion to Judaism, or folks of any background with a general interest in Judaism and a desire to learn more. Now that the class is available online, it’s also a great way for parents (of any faith) raising children in the Jewish community to expand their own knowledge without having to leave the house around bedtime. A shorter way of saying all this is that if you landed on this page – this class is for YOU! As part of your learning process, the class includes a panel with several of our community’s rabbis in order to give you a sense of the different approaches amongst local congregations. If you are looking to make more connections to Jewish life in Omaha beyond religious life - as the Director of Community Engagement & Education I encourage you to reach out! Most of the programs, classes and activities offered by the Jewish Federation of Omaha’s Community Engagement & Education arm are open to the entire greater Omaha community (or beyond, for programs on Zoom), and part of my job is to connect folks with the resources that are most meaningful to you. Be in touch.
