Bill Ashley passed away on June 30 at the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home. Services were held July 3 at Temple Israel Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Temple Israel.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Ashley of 28 years; daughters and sons-in-laws, Jill Ashley-Grochowski and Jason Grochowski and Julie Ashley and Jim Prohaska; son, David Rosen; grandchildren: Drew, Cole, Brynn and Zevin.

Bill graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was President of Phi Kappa Psi. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Bill owned Crest Petroleum Corp, CFM Marketing Systems Inc., (Convenient Food Mart Franchise). Suds City Carwashes and Bushy Johns. He was co-owner of Omaha Ice Co., and Crestwood Shops. Bill was District Governor of Rotary International; and past President of Suburban Rotary, Nebraska Petroleum Marketers, Omaha Oilman’s Club, and Nebraska Grocery Industry Association. He served on the board of Directors for the following organizations: Petroleum Marketers of America, United AG, Omaha Safety Council, UNO Maverick Hockey Blue Line Club, Omaha Hockey Hall of Fame, Omaha Symphony Men’s Council, PTA and Youth for Understanding. Bill was service oriented locally and internationally in numerous organizations. He hosted several exchange students who became “members of his family.”

Memorials may be made to Temple Israel, Beth El Synagogue, Suburban Rotary Charitable Foundation or the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home.
