3.28.14 Issue 

Rita Swartz Cooper passed away peacefully on Feb. 22 after a courageous six week battle with liver cancer in Rancho Mirage, CA. Services were held on Feb. 25 at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, CA by Rabbi Jordan Offseyer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Cooper and son, Alan (Lanny) Cooper.

She is survived by her daughters, Sally Silverberg of Houston and Sheila Cooper, Plano, TX; son and daughter-in-law, David and Arlene Cooper of Dallas; grandchildren: Robyn and Adam Burck of Houston, Elliott Cooper and Louis Cooper of Plano, TX; great-grandchildren: Riley, Asher and Corey Burck, all of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Fred Levinson of San Francisco; brother and sister-in-law, Clark and Linda Swartz of Gilbert, AZ; brother, Jeffrey Swartz of Dallas; and many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

She was born on July 28, 1932 in Omaha to Beverly and Bob Swartz and was the eldest of four children.
