It all came down to the final question, worth 60 points, at the 27th Annual Edward Zorinsky B’nai B’rith Bible Quiz. If Zev Krausman, who had only missed one question the entire evening, had missed that one, he would’ve been edged out by Aaron Zipursky, who took second place. Throughout the quiz, students and spectators were enlightened and even entertained, as Quiz Master Gloria Kaslow asked the contestants multiple rounds of challenging questions from the books of Leviticus, Numbers and Esther.
The final results were First Place, Zev Krausman, winning $600 in scholarship funds and a $50 cash prize; Second Place, Aaron Zipursky, winning $350 in scholarship funds; Third Place, Sam Lieb, winning $250 in scholarship funds; and Fourth Place Tie, Ethan Potash and Max Weiner, each winning $125 in scholarship funds.
Other participants were Aaron Kurtzman and Max Polack.
Special thanks to this year’s judges: Rabbis Steven Abraham, Josh Brown and Yaakov Weiss; organizers Gary Javitch, Gloria Kaslow, Stan Mitchell and this year’s committee, chaired by Steve Riekes; and Cantor Wendy Shermet and Hazzan Michael Krausman for leading attendees in blessings and song.
