10 Point Pitch: A Brain Training Game. Tuesdays, May 1 and 8. Free sessions run from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Husker Lounge on Main Street at the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home. If you like to play cards, you should definitely learn to play 10 Point Pitch This popular trick-taking game is simpler than bridge and positively addicting. Instructor Shawn Menagh, card enthusiast and volunteer at the RBJH, will teach you the rules and basic strategies so you and your partner can out-score the other team. Copy and Paste without Glue Computer Class: Wednesday, May 9, 1 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. in the Pennie Z. Davis Learning Center on Main Street at the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home. Instructor Phyllis Gentry, RBJH Executive Assistant, will teach you ways to copy text, pictures and just about anything from one place to another. Only six students per class, so sign up now as space will fill up quickly. First come, first served. Cost: $5 for the session. It’s A Mystery: Monday, May 21. 12:30 p.m. luncheon in the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home Auditorium. Everyone’s asking about the mystery guest. Is he/she an actor? A world traveler? A comedian? All the above? Whatever the answer, you’re in for a treat. Deadline for reservations is Monday, May 14. A Free Afternoon at the Movies: The Descendants. Friday May 25, 1 p.m. in the JCC Theater. Complimentary popcorn — warm and delicious — will be served. No reservations necessary. Invite a friend. Directed by Omaha’s own Alexander Payne, and starring George Clooney, this award-winning film tells the story of a land baron who tries to re-connect with his two daughters after his wife is seriously injured in a boating accident. Live Theater at the Barn: Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys. Thursday, June 7, 7:30 p.m. at the Lofte Community Theater in Manley, NE. Here’s the story. Al and Willie were top-billed vaudevillians for over forty years. Now they aren’t even speaking. Circumstances bring the two back together for a grudging reunion, along with a flood of memories, miseries and laughs. $17 per person includes show admission and school bus transportation sponsored by Jewish Social Services.
