Silvia graduated as a dietitian in her native country, Costa Rica. She then moved to New York where she obtained a Master’s of Science in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and became a Registered Dietitian. Silvia worked at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx for more than five years, providing nutrition counseling to patients with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, obesity, and other conditions. She became faculty in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Albert Einstein and was responsible for the development and implementation of the nutrition programs for the entire ambulatory oncology department. After living in New York for seven years, Silvia and her husband decided to move to Omaha to raise their family in a small Jewish Community. She is licensed as a Medical Nutrition Therapist in the State of Nebraska and Iowa and is also fluent in Spanish. Silvia is looking forward to develop and implement exciting nutrition programs at the JCC and invites all members to participate to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
