Types of Massage
Swedish
A European style of therapeutic massage that exercises muscles and joints; used primarily for full body.
Deep Tissue
Releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and more direct pressure, reaching the deep muscles not truly affected by standard relaxation massage.
Sport Massage (2 types of massage)
• Pre Event Massage: A quick, vigorous massage that warms, excites and preps the muscle for a workout or event, thus reducing the chance for injury.
• Post Event Massage: A slower, deeper massage that flushes the muscle tissue of lactic acid, (a by-product of the muscle burning fuel during an event or workout). This type of massage helps bring more blood and nutrients to the cells to aid in the process of rebuilding broken down muscle tissue.
Neuromuscular
Known as “Trigger Point Therapy”, applies concentrated finger pressure to trigger points (painful, irritated areas in the muscles) in order to break the cycle of spasms and pain.
Pregnancy
Helps mother-to-be in preparing herself emotionally, spiritually and physically from early pregnancy to delivery. Promotes relaxation and relieves straining muscles.
Reflexology
Is the application of pressure, stretch and movement to the feet and hands to affect corresponding parts of the body. By applying technique, a reflexologist can break up patterns of stress in other parts of the body.
Stress is a barrier to the body’s return to normal state of equilibrium.
