The JCC offers a variety of American Red Cross Training and classes.  Certification is obtained upon passing the necessary test put forth in the American Red Cross guidelines. Because we incur staffing costs for American Red Cross programming, we require a $35 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration for all Red Cross classes.


Member & Non Member, Ages 15+
Learn the skills needed to be a professional lifeguard. Topics covered include teamwork, rescue and water surveillance skills, First Aid, and CPR/AED. Participants must be 15 by end of class, attend all classes, pass all prerequisites, and pass the written test to attain certification. Manual available at

Lifeguard Re-Certification

Members & Non Members, Ages 15+ 
Open to individuals who have gone through, and passed, the ARC Lifeguard Certification Course. Previous Lifeguard Certification documentation must be presented. Participants only need to attend one class to obtain re-certification. Listed hours include a 60 minute lunch break.

Babysitting Training

Member & Non Member, Ages 10+   (Minimum 5)
Learn knowledge and skills necessary to care for children and infants. Learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep yourself and others safe, help children behave, and basic first aid.

Junior Lifeguard Certification

Member & Non Member, Ages 11-14  (Min 5)
The course introduces participants to lifesaving skills, in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, first aid, CPR and AED. Participants also have the opportunity to shadow lifeguards in rotation to get a real sense of being on the job. Bring lunch and swim suit each day. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the class.
